Applying for a place at Leigh Junior School

Leigh Beck Junior School has 90 places available in Year 3 each year. These are free of charge and open to children of all backgrounds and abilities.

To apply for a place, you must complete a Common Application Framework (CAF) either:

  • online via the Essex website by clicking here.
  • on paper – you can request a form by calling Essex County Council Admissions Team on 0345 603 2200.

If you’re applying for a place after the start of the school year (for example, changing schools), please contact the local authority.

Oversubscription criteria

If the number of preferences for the school is more than the number of places available, places will be allocated according to the school’s admission criteria. For more information, view our school's Admissions Policy.

Admission arrangements for pupils with SEN or disabilities

Children with a statement of Special Educational Need that specifies the school as the placement school will be allocated a place through a separate procedure, in accordance with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice. For more information, see Essex County Council's Admissions Booklet.

Junior School admissions for September 2023 intake

If your child is currently in year 2, they are due to join a junior school year 3 in September 2023.

If you have already applied for a place, you will:

  • receive your offer letter on 16th April 2023 
  • have until 30th April 2023 to accept or decline the offer
  • have until 18th May 2023 to appeal against an admission decision. For details of how to make an appeal, visit the Essex website.

Mid-Year Applications

Families moving into the area with primary age children who wish to attend Leigh Beck Junior School should contact the school and a visit will be arranged to view the school and to discuss admission arrangements. 

An application can be made for a place for a child at any time outside the main admission round.  Applications should be made directly to the school using the application form available on the school’s website A copy of the application form can also be obtained by contacting the school office. 
We will inform you of the outcome of your in-year application in writing within 15 school days.

Secondary admissions for September 2022 intake

If your child is currently in Year 6, they will be due to start secondary school in September 2020. You must still apply for a secondary place for your child even if they attend an all-through school or have an older sibling at your preferred school.

The closing date for on-time applications for the September 2021 is 31st October 2020.

Outcome of applications

1st March is National Allocation Day so you can log on to the eAdmissions site from 5pm on that date to find out the results of your application.
