Applying for a place at Leigh Junior School

Leigh Beck Junior School has 90 places available in Year 3 each year. These are free of charge and open to children of all backgrounds and abilities. For more information on the school’s admission criteria, view our Admissions Policy.

To apply for a place, you must complete a Common Application Framework (CAF) either:

  • online via the Essex website by clicking here.
  • on paper – you can request a form by calling Essex County Council Admissions Team on 0345 603 2200.

If you’re applying for a place after the start of the school year (for example, changing schools), please contact the local authority.

Oversubscription criteria

If the number of preferences for the school is more than the number of places available, places will be allocated according to the school’s admission criteria. For more information, view our school's Admissions Policy.

Admission arrangements for pupils with SEN or disabilities

Children with a statement of Special Educational Need that specifies the school as the placement school will be allocated a place through a separate procedure, in accordance with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice. For more information, see Essex County Council's Admissions Booklet.

Infant & Junior School admissions for September 2019 intake

If your child was born between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2015, they will be due to start Reception in September 2019. Even if your child currently attends a nursery attached to a school or has a sibling already at the school you must apply for a Reception place.  

If your child is currently in year 2, they are due to join a junior school year 3 in September 2019.

If you have already applied for a place, you will:

  • receive your offer letter on 16th April 2018 
  • have until 30th April 2018 to accept or decline the offer
  • have until 18th May 2018 to appeal against an admission decision. For details of how to make an appeal, visit the Haringey website.

Secondary admissions for September 2019 intake

If your child is currently in Year 6, they will be due to start secondary school in September 2019. You must still apply for a secondary place for your child even if they attend an all-through school or have an older sibling at your preferred school.

The closing date for on-time applications for the September 2019 is 31st October 2018. 

To apply, you must complete a Common Application Framework (CAF):

  • on paper – you can request a form by calling Essex County Council's School Admissions Team on 0345 603 2200.

Outcome of applications

1st March is National Allocation Day so you can log on to the eAdmissions site from 5pm on that date to find out the results of your application or, if you submitted on paper, you will receive an offer letter, and you will have: 

  • until 15th March 2018 to accept or decline the offer 
  • until 31st March 2018 to appeal against an admission decision. For details of how to make an appeal, visit the Council website.

Primary Admissions for September 2020 intake

If your child is in year 1, they will be due to start Reception in September 2020.
